July 26, 2015 by Victoria May Barcelona This was my first time in Barcelona and I was bowled over by the beauty of the city. It is absolutely rich with pattern and embellishment everywhere, even the sidewalks. Of course it is the city where Gaudi has many of his works, which are awe-inspiring. This includes designs for the sidewalk and lamp posts even. There are facades by other designers, who I didn’t get the name of, that are equally as ornate and craft-intensive. The tradition of ornate pattern lives on in contemporary designs… And it even works its way into resourceful new fixes of old fixtures. Even a local famous cemetery has an ornate sense of pattern. Apparently the remains are kept in drawers. Leave a comment CommentNameThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
